Raunds Events

Every year, Raunds Town Council hold 4 main events. These are: The Mayor's Show, Annual Town Picnic, Remembrance Sunday Parade and the Christmas Light switch on. These events are held on different dates every year, so make sure to look at our events calendar all year round for key event dates.

Places to Eat

Within Raunds there are a range of restaurants and café's to eat situated along Brook Street. Jester's Bistro & Coffee Lounge is a Bistro in the middle of Brook Street which serves both breakfast and lunch. There is also Sounds Delicious. Belle's Brooks Cafe and Cookies Bakery. Here you can meet friends for a coffee and cake to have a catch up! The World Upside Down and The Woodpecker also a serve a lovely meal.

Raunds Market

Raunds market is held every Friday on the Town Square. There are a variety of stalls including meat, cakes, sandwiches, hot chocolates, teas and coffees.

If you are interested in having a stall at Raunds Market on a Friday please read the Market Traders Terms and Conditions before filling in the Market Traders Application Form and returning it to the Council Offices for consideration.

Community Centre

Raunds also has a superb community centre, Saxon Hall, located behind the council offices on Thorpe Street. The Saxon Hall can be hired for Children's Parties, Family Functions, Wedding Receptions, Social Events, Fitness Classes, Group Meetings, Corporate Meetings and Conferences.

Bin collection

North Northamptonshire Council deals with the wheelie bins within Raunds. Bin collection in Raunds is every Tuesday for the majority of Raunds. Other areas of Raunds the collection day is every Monday. In Raunds there are 4 defibrillators for medical use. One can be found outside Co-Op Funeral care on Brooks Street on the wall. Buses

There are 2 different buses that run within Raunds:

Raunds History

There are a number of listed sites, monuments and buildings in Raunds, details of which can be found on the Historic England Website.

You can also find information at Raunds Library, which holds an extensive archive of parish records, local history information, including military records of Raunds men from 1777 to 1945 and there is also a large photographic collection. There are also 3 local history and genealogy volunteers who are on hand to help with research.

Play Areas

Raunds Town Council is responsible for 6 play areas in the town.

Amos Lawrence Playing Field

Amos Lawrence Playing Field is situated on Stanwick Road in Raunds. The field is used regularly by Raunds Town Youth FC for training and matches.

Raunds Town Carnival is held annually at Amos Lawrence where there are stalls, floats, performances, award ceremonies and fun fair.

Bassfords Recreation Ground

Bassfords Recreation Ground is located on Marshalls Road, Raunds adjacent to Raunds Town Cricket Club and London Road Allotments.

It has a play area with equipment for children between 8 - 13 years which including a Pod Swing, Aeroskate, Rodeo Board, Gyro Spiral, BiiBox and Youth Shelter.

There is also a toddler area which has swings, small climbing frame with slide and roundabout and see-saw.

Any play area that is fenced and that has a gate will be a dogs exclusion zone, meaning it is an offence to take a dog into a fenced children's play area at any time.

If you are looking for somewhere to exercise then Bassfords has outdoor gym equipment. There are 10 pieces of equipment which are free to use 24hrs a day.

Raunds Mayors Show and Raunds Summer Picnic are held here annually. Details can be found on our website, noticeboards and electronic sign.

Webb Road Play Area

Webb Road Play Area is located between Webb Road and Nichols Way. This play area was updated in 2016 and has a climbing frame, stepping stones, see-saw and rotating springer.


Saddlers Play Area

Saddlers play area is located off Weighbridge Way and is aimed at children up to 8 years of ages, the play area was refurbished in January 2021.

Any play area that is fenced and that has a gate will be a dogs exclusion zone, meaning it is an offence to take a dog into a fenced children's play area at any time.

Town Square Play Area

The Town Square has a small play unit which replaced the concrete animals.

Saxon Hall Play Area

Saxon Hall play area has had some additional equipment installed and is aimed at toddlers up to 5 years old.

Memorials

Raunds War Memorial is located in the Memorial Garden of St Peters Church. The memorial was listed by Historic England in November 2015 and full details of their listing can be found here
