Herb Gardens

As part of the Love Where You Live campaign, on 15th September a team of volunteers from McDonald's and Raunds Town Council worked together to transform a number of untended graves into vibrant herb gardens. This initiative not only honours the resting places of our community's ancestors but also supports local wildlife by creating sustainable green spaces.

The planting was inspired by a recent report from the Northamptonshire Churchyard Conservation Scheme, which highlighted the importance of improving biodiversity in churchyards and cemeteries. By planting herbs such as oregano, rosemary, and thyme, these previously neglected graves have been turned into living gardens that contribute to the local ecosystem.

Fancy getting involved?

You can adopt a grave and create your own herb garden - perfect for a bit of green-fingered fun and to help support our local wildlife.
